Scott Reed is the Chief Executive Officer of MVA and is widely recognized as one of the power industry’s leading experts in transformer diagnostics, insulating fluids, and high-voltage equipment maintenance. With decades of experience serving utilities, municipalities, industrial facilities, and electrical contractors throughout North America, he has built a reputation for technical excellence, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to transformer reliability.
Under Scott’s leadership, MVA has grown into a nationally recognized provider of transformer oil diagnostic testing, transformer assembly and repair, electrical testing, and specialized field services. His vision has driven the development of innovative solutions, including the patented XQOhm® paperless oil sampling platform, helping modernize transformer maintenance programs and improve operational efficiency for customers across the country.
Beyond his leadership at MVA, Scott is an internationally respected authority on transformer maintenance standards and insulating fluid management. He currently
serves as the Vice Chairman of the IEEE Transformers Committee and is in line to be
the next Chairman. He previously served as the Chairman of the IEEE Insulating Fluids
Subcommittee. He currently serves as Chairman of IEEE C57.93, Guide for Installation and Maintenance of Liquid-Immersed Power Transformers and Reactors, Vice Chairman of IEEE C57.166, Guide for Acceptance and Maintenance of Insulating Liquids in Transformers and Related Equipment, and Vice Chairman of IEEE C57.637, Guide for the Reclamation of Insulating Liquids and Criteria for it’s Use. As a Senior Member of IEEE, Scott continues to help shape industry best practices and standards that improve the reliability and longevity of critical electrical infrastructure worldwide.
Scott’s expertise and contributions to the electrical power industry have earned national recognition, including the 2026 NETA Alliance Partner Recognition Award for Technical Expertise, Leadership, and Service. Through his leadership, MVA continues to set the standard for technical excellence, innovation, and customer-focused solutions, helping organizations maximize asset performance, reduce risk, and extend the service life of their most critical power equipment.
